Jon's wrestling persona reflects on his childhood background from growing up in Cincinnati's East End. Jon saw a flyer for an HWA training camp with Les Thatcher in Cincinnati. So he jumped on the oppertunity. He wrestled in Heartland wrestling Association (HWA) for 6 years. But from 2007 - 2011 he also wrestled in Insanity Pro Wrestling,  Combat Zone Wrestling from 2009 - 2011, & Dragon Gate USA from 2009 - 2011. He got the call to come up to WWE's developmental system in April of 2011. He debuted on FCW on July 3, 2011. On November 18, 2012 he along side Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns debuted as The Shield. They remained undefeated until May 13, 2013 when they were defeated by Cena, Kane, & Bryan. At Extreme Rules he won the United States Championship from Kofi Kingston. He kept that championship for 351 days, the longest reign in history. The night after The Shield had defeated Evolution for the second time (June 2, 2014), Seth Rollins turned on The Shield & went with The Authority. Ambrose would pursue a fued with Rollins for several months. After that, Ambrose & Reigns would team up to try & take down The Authority. Ambrose has has many chances to claim the WWE Championship, most of the time getting screwed over, but never succeeding. Although, on December 13, 2015 Ambrose successfully defeated Kevin Owens to win the intercontinental Championship that he still holds to this day!
